The advent wreath is very old. His destiny is from the islands in the north of Germany. The farmers in that area wrapped osier stake to a hoop at the time of the winter solstice. His round form represents the movement of the sun and stays for the perfection. Exact 24 candles fixated on top of the plaited branches illuminated the halls. So many candles were very expensive and the tradition evolved only to light one candle on the Sundays before Christmas.
